Project Description
Our Technical Sales Director, Scott Caprio, worked with the facility manager and wrote up a specification to restore this roof with a custom tan/beige finish of our AP-5300 Silicone Roof Coating.
With an aging, 200 square APP substrate, this roof had seen better days [see dried, alligatored areas above]. Orginally, the plan was to make this roof watertight for a soccer field to be installed and though that plan changed a bit, the restoration plan proceeded as follows: The roof was cleaned, to remove any oils, dirt or loose substrate granules. Next the perimeter and problem seams were reinforced with our AP-3100 Acrylic Base Coating embedded with 6″ and 20″ Polyester Material Fabric.
Surface Preparation
The facility crew cleaned the roof with brooms to remove dust and larger debris and then mopped the surface to remove any loose or caked on debris to prepare the roof for the liquid membrane system.
Seam & Penetration Repair
The perimeters and problem seams were reinforced with our 12” Polyester Fabric embedded into AP-3100 Acrylic Base Coating to protect to these vulnerable areas.
System Coating Process
2 coats of AP-3100 Acrylic Base Coating were applied to the entire roof, providing a bleed-blocking base for the waterproof performance of the AP-5300 High Solids Silicone Roof Coating.
